In Bulgaria card phones are usually more dependable than coin-operated ones and the cards can be bought from most kiosks. The lines are in the process of being replaced with digital ones that should improve their reliability.

There is also wide GSM coverage in Bulgaria by Mobiltel and GloBul; most major mobile phone companies have roaming agreements with one of these companies. Dual band mobiles are required and SMS is possible.
A post to Western Europe can take from four days to two weeks. Post office opening hours are usually Monday - Friday 08:30-17:30.
